In February 1962, Marilyn Monroe bought a property located at 12305 5th Helena Drive in Los Angeles.

It was the last of 43 properties that the icon purchased. And the place where Monroe died six months after moving in.

Monroe described her former property as “a cute little Mexican-style house with eight rooms.”

The house has a size of 2,624 square feet, 4 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.

It locates in the “affluent Brentwood area of Los Angeles.” Monroe bought the property for $650,000.

In 2021, it was sold for over $7 million.

Marilyn Monroe’s house romance

According to testimonies, Monroes psychiatrist suggested her client purchase the house.

The plan was simple, to “put down some roots”.

 

Monroe liked the idea, liked her new home and she treated the property as another part of herself.

“Anybody who likes my house, I am sure I will get along with,” Marilyn Monroe said to Life Magazine.

Monroe was found dead in her bedroom by a maid at 4:25 a.m. on Aug. 5, 1962.

The property changed hands multiple times after the 6 months of ownership.

During the 1970s Michael Irving and Veronica Hamel. The couple remodeled the property, they extended every room in the house.

The house was listed on the market multiple times.
