Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested this weekend on a string of charges, it has emerged.

Kirkpatrick, the son of former NFL player and Crimson Tide star Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of attempting to elude and speeding, according to jail records cited by AL.com.

Kirkpatrick was reportedly released on $1,500 bond after being booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Saturday.

‘We are aware of an incident involving Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and are working to gather more details at this time,’ a spokesperson for UA athletics told the outlet.

Kirkpatrick’s father, played at Alabama from 2009-2011 before being selected No. 17 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Bengals.

He went on to play 10 years in the NFL – spending eight of them with Cincinnati and then finishing his career with the Cardinals and 49ers.

His son, a three-star-recruit, followed in his footsteps when he joined Alabama’s program last year.

He played in 13 games last year and has taken the field in all eight games this season.

Kirkpatrick Jr. has totaled nine combined tackles and one tackle for loss this season for the Crimson Tide, who are second in the SEC with a 7-1 overall (5-0 conference) record.

Following the retirement of Nick Saban, Alabama had an uncharacteristic year last season as they went just 5-3 in the SEC.

However, they’ve been better so far under Kalen DeBoer this season, with wins over Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee.

Alabama will host LSU next weekend as they try to win their eighth game of the year.
