Brooke Leggett is facing backlash after sharing how she plans to handle Halloween candy with her children.
The mom, who posts as@leggett_brookeon TikTok, began her video by admitting, “I’m not a fun mom,” before revealing what’s going into her kids’ Halloween baskets this year. She explained that her children “will not be eating the loads of crap that is in the candy bars that they give up,” and instead will enjoy what she calls “healthier options.”
Inthe clipLeggett said she’s making one basket for her 3-year-old daughter and another for her cousin’s child, while noting that her 1-year-old “is not gonna eat half this stuff.” She then walked viewers through the items she chose, emphasizing natural ingredients and organic products.

“Starting up strong with ghost cheddar puffs,” she said, noting they’re “organic” with “very natural ingredients.” From there, she added Halloween-themed Bobos oat bars, calling them “so cute” and “simple.”
Next up, Leggett filled the baskets with organic snacks and dye-free sweets, including Yum Earth lollipops and Annie’s gummy bats. She said she’s aiming for treats without “the preservatives and the crunchy bulls—, whatever.”
She added a mix of plant-based bars and no-sugar-added applesauce pouches, noting how “cute” the Frankenstein packaging is. Holding up chocolate from Trader Joe’s, she admitted she didn’t check every ingredient on that addition to the bags, but said, “It makes me feel better that it’s from Trader Joe’s.”

To finish it off, Leggett included fruit leather chains made from “blueberry puree, apple puree concentrate and date paste.” Smiling at the camera, she added, “Healthy, fun. Yay. I seem like a fun mom.”
To top things off, she revealed plans to make homemade peanut butter cups using pumpkin molds. “I’m gonna be making homemade Reese’s,” she said, showing off the molds.
For her youngest, Leggett kept it simple. “She’s probably gonna get an applesauce, and she’s gonna get one of these tractor wheels, and she’s gonna be happy as pie,” she said with a smile.
Many of the viewers on her video said her approach takes the fun out of Halloween. One commenter wrote, “I mean, I’m all for healthy eating but life is about balance. Halloween is a fun time to enjoy candy.”
Another added, “Just let the kids be kids for 1 day a year.”
“May this mindset never find me,” another wrote.

Some viewers also questioned why Leggett lets her kids go trick-or-treating if they weren’t allowed to eat the candy they collected. “Halloween candy is expensive as is all that just for it to be thrown away is insane and it’s just one (day) out of the year,” a user commented.
Others suggested a different approach to the holiday. “Maybe instead of taking them trick or treating and seeing all the candy in their bags that they don’t get to eat,” one user commented, “I would instead make your healthy versions of treats with them on Halloween and then watch kid Halloween movies.”
In a follow-up video, Leggett replied to the backlash she got in the comments, saying, “Y’all really watched me put gummies, chips, chocolates, lollipops, chips, candies and other snacks into a bag and you’re pressed about what brand it is? Touch some grass.”
