This came in statements reported by the Russian “Match TV” channel, and Degtyarev said that the International Olympic Committee stands with Russia in this file, adding: “The International Olympic Committee helps us put pressure on a number of European countries in order to allow our athletes to participate in competitions, whether in ski races or other sports.”

It was previously announced that an appeal had been filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne against the decision of the International Skating Federation, which banned the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions.

Under the new decision, the International Federation is obligated to allow Russian skaters to return to the championships.

It is noteworthy that since the end of February 2022, the majority of international sports federations have excluded Russian athletes from competitions based on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee, before allowing some of them to return under specific conditions or under a neutral flag.
