A popular ready-made Indian meal sold in Aldi Australia stores for $8.99 is feared to be disappearing from shelves.

In recent months, the budget supermarket has been stocking World Kitchen Chicken Biryani in the chilled section alongside other ready-made meal options.

One Aussie woman only recently tried the spicy rice dish after reading a recommendation and was so impressed that she felt compelled to rave about it online.

‘This thing is too good to be true!’ she wrote in a discussion forum.

But she quickly followed it up by voicing her concern that this Aldi find appeared to only be a limited-time item.

‘Please tell me it’s not a limited time thing and it’s always there, otherwise I’m going to have a mental breakdown,’ she jokingly wrote.

Daily Mail reached out to Aldi Australia who confirmed that they ‘couldn’t be happier ‘ that customers are enjoying the World Kitchen Chicken Biryani and can understand why ‘it’s become a real hit’.

‘This fragrant feast went on sale earlier this year as part of the Limited Time Only range, and will be available in our stores across the next few months, while stocks last,’ the spokesperson added.

An Aldi superfan who reviews store items under the handle @aldieaterau had previously alerted followers to the excellent biryani five weeks ago, rating it a ‘9/10’.

They cautioned that those who aren’t fans of spicy food may be left ‘reaching for the milk’.

The meal photo accompanying the post also revealed a key detail about the product’s availability – with ‘limited time only’ clearly printed in a red bubble on the top right-hand side of the packaging.

The woman who discovered the Chicken Biryani recently and shared her discontinuation fears in a Reddit post received replies from other Aldi shoppers, who sadly confirmed it would likely soon be removed from shelves. There is also currently no listing for the product on Aldi’s website.

However, many of the responses also noted that Aldi has a track record of bringing back formerly temporary items as permanent additions if there’s enough customer demand for it.

‘Seasonal product,’ one person replied. ‘Will likely be around for a few months, but if it’s popular enough it might be added to the core range.’

To this, the original poster enthusiastically responded: ‘I might have to single-handedly buy every single one of them so they get added to the permanent range.’

Another person agreed, replying: ‘Our household supports and will join you! We are equally obsessed and they are so convenient and tasty!’

A play on words, the ‘naanwich’ is a sandwich featuring lashings of creamy butter chicken served between pieces of naan bread.

The treat first hit shelves in 2019 and was an instant hit, snapped up by shoppers until sold out.
