The Daily Star wins two awards at WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards South Asia 2025

The Daily Star has earned regional recognition at the South Asian Digital Media Awards 2025, presented by WAN-IFRA (World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers) — this time for its campaign ‘Maa Shob Pare’, developed in partnership with Meghna Group of Industries.

The campaign received Gold in the Best in Audience Engagement category and Silver in the Best Native Advertising Campaign category, making The Daily Star the only media outlet from Bangladesh to be recognized at this year’s awards.

Held in Chennai, India, the awards ceremony brought together some of South Asia’s most innovative publishers. This year, over 105 entries were submitted from across the region, celebrating digital creativity, impactful storytelling, and audience-first strategies.

Launched to celebrate International Mother’s Day in 2024, the ‘Maa Shob Pare’ campaign highlighted a very real challenge: the growing digital gap between generations. While digital services expand rapidly across Bangladesh, many mothers, especially from older generations, continue to face barriers in accessing and using digital tools.

With the insight that “Moms can do everything — except maybe tech without us,” the campaign invited younger audiences to teach their mothers a new digital skill and to share their experience on a dedicated campaign platform.

The campaign engaged the young audience through a heartfelt video, a series of educational content, influencer collaboration, and interactive storytelling that resulted in reaching over 38 million audience across digital media and garnered over 200 heartfelt stories.

This recognition places The Daily Star alongside leading South Asian publishers such as BBC, Deutsche Welle, The Hindu, The Quint, and HT Media, who were also awarded across various categories this year.

As a Gold winner, The Daily Star also qualified to compete at the WAN-IFRA World Digital Media Awards, held at the World News Media Congress 2025 in Kraków, Poland.
