The Spanish newspaper AS reported on Wednesday that Carlos was undergoing tests to check on a previous injury to his leg before doctors discovered that the Real Madrid legend was suffering from a heart problem.

According to the newspaper, Carlos was suffering from “a large part of his heart having stopped working,” which forced doctors to perform urgent surgery that took 3 hours.

“AS” added that Carlos’s condition is now stable, and he will remain under medical observation for 48 hours.

It is noteworthy that Roberto Carlos resides in the Spanish capital, Madrid, where he works as an ambassador for his former club, and was visiting his home country to spend the Christmas holidays with his wife and one of his children.
