Lily Allen‘s controversial Halloween costume from over a decade ago has resurfaced once again ahead of the holiday – and fans are not impressed.

In 2014, Allen – who recently went through a messy split from husband David Harbour – dressed up in a pair of teal-colored doctor’s scrubs, with a stethoscope around her neck and a badge that read, ‘Dr. Luke, Gynecology Department.’

At the time, music producer Dr. Luke was being sued by singer Keshawho alleged sexual assault and battery.

Kesha claimed during the years-long legal battle that he previously drugged and raped her in a 2005 incident, which he has strenuously denied.

Following Kesha’s filing of her lawsuit, the producer filed a defamation suit against her in which he said she made up the claims and had tarnished his character.

The lawsuits were finally settled in June 2023. During the announcement, Kesha said that ‘only God knows what happened that night,’ referencing the night she claimed she had been sexually assaulted.

In 2014, the year Kesha first came forward with her claims, Allen, now 40, decided to dress as Dr. Luke at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party.

She paired the scrubs with a some metallic slip-on sneakers and a high bun in her hair.

At the time, TMZ reported that Allen and Kesha were good friends, as they suggested that it could have been her way of ‘supporting’ the singer – but many didn’t take it that way.

In a new post on the Fauxmoi subreddit this week, someone posted about the most ‘f**ked up’ costumes that celebrities have worn, and Allen’s 2014 look was a big topic of conversation.

‘Lily Allen just always manages to PMO. She could just be a pop singer, but…’ one Reddit user typed.

Another agreed, ‘Oh man. This is so bad. Shame on her.’

Allen’s costume also resurfaced on X this week.

‘Omg! Every day I find out something new about this woman. Like what’s her problem?’ an X user typed.

Someone else wrote, ‘What is her problem omfg.’

‘No excuse, vile and disgusting.’ another described of Allen’s Halloween outfit.

Other users, however, believed that Allen was calling out Dr. Luke instead of poking fun at the situation.

‘Maybe she meant it like… in support of Kesha?’ one person theorized.

Another seconded, asking if it was bad thing to bring attention to allegations against Dr. Luke, asking, ‘What is the issue here?’

In 2017, Allen seemingly addressed the issue in a message she posted in response to a fan on X, writing, ‘I never made fun of Kesha and I never would. I made fun of the d**kwad that allegedly abused her. Big difference.’

Of course, this costume wasn’t the only time that the singer made headlines.

In recent weeks, the fallout following her breakup from Harbour was perhaps alluded to in the explicit lyrics from her fifth studio album West End Girl.

In one song, she sings about discovering a partner had cheated on her by finding messages on his phone.

The star referenced a mistress called Madeline, who is apparently a construct of several people and seemingly lies at the heart of the issue between her and Harbour.

The couple was married for four years; Allen has claimed that the album was a mix of both fact and fiction.
