How The Girls Behind Viral Boys Lie Brand Turned Heartbreak Into Brand Worn By Your Favorite Stars

Boys lie, but these viral matching swear sets don’t.

If you haven’t heard of the social media smash hit brand Boys Lienot only are you seriously behind, but also seriously missing out.

The cheeky clothing brand first came about when founder Tori Robinson and Leah O’Malley, who are also childhood best friends, were going through major breakups.

The Daily Mail sat down with childhood best friend founders (and undeniable boss ladies) Robinson and O’Malley to get the inside scoop on all things past and present – from their brand-new podcast to their sure-to-sell-out collabs you won’t want to miss.

One St. Patrick’s Day back in 2016, the two found themselves drunk and with one phrase on their mind: ‘boys lie.’

Robinson told the Daily Mail: ‘We ended up drunk at a fire station in New York City and we just kept screaming “boys lie” out into the streets… and from there the brand was soon born.​’

Since the launch of their clothing, and most notably their matching hoodie sets, Boys Lie has become somewhat of a household name, even with major A-listers.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid was the first celebrity wearer to take the brand from just viral to a $5 million company.

Hadid notably wore one of the brand’s matching Boys Lie Goodbye sets, which feature a vintage-looking angle on the front, following her split from reality star Tyler Cameron in October 2019.

Ever since then, other celebrities have flocked to Boys Liefrom Ariana Grande to Kylie Jenner.

But O’Malley and Robinson’s story started far before their Hollywood notoriety. The girls began their journey by creating a loyal community across social media, especially Instagram.

What started out as a mood board-like page turned into what is now a full-on fandom of men, women, and, as of late, even pups! Because, according to the girls, ‘heartbreak is universal.’

Today, the Boys Lie website has a plethora of unique apparel, with much of it being unisex, including tees, tanks, sweats, and even shorts.

Whether you are looking for the perfect ‘revenge dress’ alternative or just are obsessed with oversized cozy sets (like we are!), the brand has something for everyone.

O’Malley described the Boys Lie clothing as ‘sometimes cheeky, sometimes deep and meaningful.’

Both girls had an impossible time choosing their go-to picks from the site, but after a tough deliberation, the top two pieces were the brand new K-Crewnecks and a hoodie with a poem from famous writer Carson Patrick Bowie, who is ‘one of their good friends now,’ said O’Malley.

​Boys Lie to the untrained eye may seem like it’s already reached the peak, but O’Malley and Robinson are just getting started.

The dynamic duo shared with me a handful of exciting updates for the brand – perhaps the biggest being their NEW collab with the iconic Pit Bull known as Miss Peaches.

You can sign up for updates on when stock drops on the Boys Lie site, and the coolest part is ‘there is a charity aspect to it where 50 percent goes to animal shelters in need,’ said Robinson.

The pair worked with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy (aka Miss Peaches owner) on the collab and said ‘It was wild.’
